Project Success Stories: From Reactivation to Re-classification
At AGMS, our 13-year journey is marked by a history of successfully delivering complex and challenging maritime projects for our clients. We specialize in transforming dormant assets into operational vessels and elevating their classification status, consistently demonstrating our technical prowess and meticulous project management capabilities.
Reactivation of Vessels from Dead Condition
We have a proven track record of breathing new life into ships that have been laid up or deemed “dead.” This intricate process involves a comprehensive overhaul and refurbishment, bringing vessels back to full operational readiness and compliance. Our expertise covers every stage:
- Detailed Condition Assessment: Thorough inspection of the hull, machinery, electrical systems, and all onboard equipment to identify the scope of work required.
- Engineering and Planning: Development of detailed work scopes, repair specifications, and project schedules to ensure efficient and effective reactivation.
- Extensive Repairs and Maintenance: Execution of necessary structural repairs, machinery overhauls, system upgrades, and installation of new equipment to meet current operational and regulatory standards.
- Class and Flag State Liaison: Working closely with classification societies and flag administrations to ensure all surveys, inspections, and documentation are completed for re-entry into service.
- Sea Trials and Delivery: Meticulous testing and trials to confirm optimal performance and seamless delivery of the reactivated vessel to our clients, ready for active service.
Converting Non-IACS Tanker Vessels to IACS Vessels
A testament to our specialized technical capabilities is our success in converting Non-IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) classed tanker vessels to IACS-compliant vessels. This is a highly complex and demanding undertaking that requires in-depth knowledge of international standards and stringent collaboration with IACS member societies.
- Rigorous Gap Analysis: We conduct a thorough assessment of the existing vessel’s structure, systems, and documentation against the stringent requirements of IACS rules and relevant international conventions (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL).
- Design Modifications and Upgrades: Our team develops and implements necessary design modifications and technical upgrades to bring the vessel into full compliance with IACS unified requirements and class rules. This often involves significant structural enhancements, machinery upgrades, and safety system improvements.
- Extensive Documentation & Review: We prepare and submit comprehensive technical drawings, calculations, and documentation to the chosen IACS member society for rigorous review and approval.
- Close Collaboration with IACS: Our strong relationships and proactive engagement with classification society surveyors ensure a smooth and efficient conversion process, from initial planning to final surveys and certification.
- Successful Track Record: We are proud to have successfully completed the conversion of one (1) Non-IACS tanker vessel to IACS compliance, demonstrating our capability to navigate these challenging projects. Furthermore, we currently have three (3) additional vessels actively under conversion, highlighting our ongoing commitment and proficiency in this specialized field.
Our deep technical understanding, coupled with our project management prowess, allows us to undertake these complex conversions, adding significant value and opening new trading opportunities for our clients’ vessels.
